Rais Shaikh
Rais Shaikh (born : 1 June 1974) is an Indian Politician from Mumbai, India.He is Member of Legestative Assembly from Bhiwandi East and was Municipal Councilor Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai and also the Group Leader of the Samajwadi Party.[1]

He is the MLA from Bhiwandi East. Rais Shaikh has won the Bhiwandi East seat by 45,133 votes. He defeated Rupesh Mahatre of Shiv Sena and Santosh Shetty of Congress.

Political life
Shaikh[2] has carried out the work to maintain and construct dilapidated roads, resolve water shortage problems[3] not only in his ward but the entire area of Govandi.[4] He has multiple goals that include providing digital classrooms to all schools,[5] setting up technology to enable virtual autopsies in post-mortem centers[6] and has proposed to provide online birth and death certificates[7] and underground parking below open spaces in South Mumbai.[8] Shaikh's Ahtesaab Foundation[9] has provided the first digital classroom of this city to a School in Govandi. He believes that there is a need to do something about the traffic congestion in Mumbai and hence suggested to start Mini Bus services.[10] He has also presented a program to improve slum infrastructure.[11][12]
Personal life
Shaikh was the 6th child out of the 7 brothers in his family. He was in Dawoodbhoy Fazalbhoy High School, Mumbai and went to Lala Lajpatrai College. He later shifted to Sydenham College of Commerce and Economics from where he graduated with a degree in Bachelor of Commerce from Mumbai University.
