Route
The R35 begins its southern terminus as Sybrand van Niekerk Street on the corner of Plein Street (N11) in Amersfoort. It leaves the town in a north-westward direction eventually crossing the Vaal River after some distance before heading northwards. It enters Morgenzon from the south as De Jager Street. It crosses Steyn Street (R39) and heads northwards out the town eventually crossing the Blesbokspruit and Kwaggalaagte rivers. Entering Bethal from the south, it joins the N17 through the town centre. It leaves the N17 in the northern suburbs of Bethal and heads northwards again where it splits from the R38, that heads north-east to Hendrina.
As the R35 heads north, it is intersected as t-junction by the R544 that heads northwest to Witbank. The road continues northward eventually crossing the Olifants River and Leeuwfontein and then intersected as t-junction by the R542 at Komati and heads west to Rethabile. Continuing northward it interchanges with the N4 freeway just south of Middleburg where it becomes Samora Machel Street. The R35's northern terminus ends when Samora Machel Street meets the main road of Cowen Ntuli Street (N11) as a t-junction.
