Quercy Phosphorites Formation
The Quercy Phosphorites Formation is a geologic formation in France. It preserves fossils dating back to the Paleogene period. Its fossils, most of which are mammal bones, have been studied since the nineteenth century.[1] It qualifies as a Lagerstätte because it also preserves the soft tissues of a few amphibians and a squamate, in addition to their articulated skeleton in what has been called natural mummies.[2]
