Plot

Gireesh (Jayaram) and Satheesh (Prem Kumar) are friends who live in a city trying to make a living with their unsuccessful Kadhaprasangam troupe (story telling performance). They are mostly jobless and in their free time, they ogle at the girls in the hostel next door. The girls, in order to teach them a lesson, prank them into accepting a performance at their friend Geethu's (Annie) village.

When they reach the village of Puthukottai, they are introduced to two warring families - Madassery and Palathara. Cochin Brothers who thought of this getaway as an opportunity for romance, timely food and vacation, are torn between the families who both want them to perform the story of Madassery Thampi according to their wishes. When trying to escape from the village, they are met with Thampi himself who tell them his story.

Thampi is revered by the villagers and family alike. One day a man Anandhan (Krishna Kumar) lands in Puthukottai, claiming to be Thampi's son. This creates a rift between Thampi and his wife's family Palathara. Thampi denies having an extramarital affair and in his anger vows to kill Anandhan. The next day Anandhan is found dead and naturally Thampi is accused. While in court, as per the advice of his friend / lawyer Govindan, Thampi confesses to the crime and he is convicted.

Thampi has now escaped from jail and narrates this to the Cochin brothers and implores them to tell the story as it is. At the performance, Cochin brothers show up and narrate the story of Thampi, finally revealing that everything was orchestrated by the lawyer Govindan. The villagers and family realize that Thampi was innocent all along. Gireesh proposes indirectly to Geethu on stage and is approved by Thampi.
