Pseudochaenichthys georgianus

Pseudochaenichthys georgianus, the South Georgia icefish, is a species of crocodile icefish only known the northern Antarctic Peninsula and the Scotia Sea. This demersal species occurs from the surface to 475 metres (1,558 ft). This species grows to a length of 60 centimetres (24 in) TL; a more common length is 50 centimetres. It is thought to mature at 42.5 cm. The maximum published weight of this species is 2.1 kg (4.6 lbs). Adults of this species feed mainly on krill and fish . This species is a synchronous spawner. This species is of minor importance to commercial fisheries. This species is the only known member of its genus.[1]
