Prince Edward Island Route 133

Ellerslie Road, labelled Route 133, is a 2-lane collector highway in Prince County, Prince Edward Island, Canada. It is located 2.5–5 miles NE of the community of Tyne Valley and is located within the community of Ellerslie. Its maximum speed limit is 80 km/h (50 mph).

The highway runs from Route 12 (Bideford) to Route 2, the Veteran's Memorial Highway, passing through the communities of Ellerslie and Mount Pleasant.

History

The western half of Ellerslie Road, from the Western Road (Route 2) inward 1.5 miles was first paved in 1975 and the remainder was paved in 1976.

The easternmost part of Ellerslie Road contains the central community of Ellerslie, with many homes and stores such as Kenny's Take–out, Red 'n' White Grocery, and others.

In 2006, Ellerslie Road in Mount Pleasant was the location of a tragic fatal car accident that claimed the life of a nearby Lennox Island teenager. A memorial is placed at the telephone pole in which the accident occurred.

As for emergency services, Tyne Valley Fire Department services the entire road. As for Catholic church service, many on Ellerslie Road would attend the nearby church on Route 12 near Bideford. As of 2005, High–speed internet from Aliant Telecom has been available for civic addresses 900–1200 on Ellerslie Road. Ellerslie Elementary School is located at 1226 Ellerslie Road.
