The basal two-fifths of the forewings is blackish brown and the distal three-fifths is pale yellow. The markings are creamy white. The costal margin has two small basal spots, and a large inverted triangular patch before the middle. There is also an elongate band-like stripe extending from the basal three-fifths to the termen. The ventral margin is blackish brown distally. The hindwings are pale grey, the cell with a short black bar situated on the end, and the tornus with a triangular greyish black patch.

Etymology

The species name refers to the colour of the forewings at the base and is derived from Latin basi- (meaning basis) and nigrum (meaning black).[2]

gollark: The claims they make are utterly lies.
