Pepe Pimentel

José Gonzáles Pimentel, Sr. (April 30, 1929 – January 25, 2013), aka Pepe Pimentel, was a Filipino game show host and actor.[1]

Career

Pimentel was best known as the host of Kwarta o Kahon, which ran for 38 years, and was considered the precursor and inspiration of popular game segments such as Wowowee’s Pera o Bayong. He also served as host for the defunct TV programs Tawag ng Tanghalan (incidentally, he was the first ever champion of the said talent competition) and Student Canteen.

Pimentel also had some notable roles in the movies Ang Babaeng Isputnik and I Won, I Won: Ang S'werte Nga Naman.

Political life

After his show business career, Pimentel served as barangay captain in Barangay Laging Handa, Quezon City (1997–2007) and was described by neighbors as very helpful and friendly.

Death

Pimentel died on January 25, 2013 in Brgy. Laging Handa, Quezon City at the age of 83.
