Paulino Lukudu Loro

Paulino Lukudu Loro was the archbishop of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Juba, South Sudan, from 1983 to 2019.

Biography

Paulino Lukudu was born on 23 August 1940 in Kwerijik,[1] He joined the Congregation of the Comboni Missionaries and was ordained priest on 12 April 1970. He was later appointed the Bishop of El Obeid on 5 March 1979, after five years of service as Apostolic Administrator of that Diocese. He served as the president of Sudan Bishops' conference in 1989-1993 and in 1999–2006.[2]

Lukudu was appointed archbishop of Juba on 19 February 1983 and serves in this office up to date. In 2015 for his 75th birthday, according to the customs of the Church, he sent his letter of resignation to the pope, but Lukudu was asked to continue in the office until new bishops for three of his suffragan dioceses, whose sees have been vacant for many years, have been found.[3]

gollark: Well, some are official TJ09 stuff, but others are not.
gollark: I personally *do* because most are not actual rules but made up by moderators.
gollark: I bet that in a few decades you'll be thrown in prison for thinking of robbing a bank anyway and DC's trade hub rules from today will be seen as allowing too much freedom.
gollark: ***aargh why***
