Paul Duffy
Paul Michael Duffy (born 16 June 1988, Liverpool) is a multi-instrumental musician and music producer from Great Britain. He became known for playing the soprano cornet with the world-famous Black Dyke Band. He now performs mainly on trumpet, trombone and piano. He is a composer, writing music for varying sizes of ensembles as well as a music producer, recording and producing music electronically. In 2014 he self-released his debut solo album, Only Just Begun.

In time for a tour to Japan in November 2015, Paul released Christmas, Vol 1. The release marking the beginning of Paul’s music being available online for download and streaming. The track "Silver Bells" from this album was quickly picked up by national and local UK radio stations as well as Spotify playlists.
Biography
Paul began to play the trumpet at the age of 7, in church together with his brother. He soon joined the St Helens Youth Brass Band. Here he met his first tutor and mentor, Lynda Nicholson. Lynda encouraged him to audition for the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain. In 2004 he auditioned and successfully gained entry to the band on solo cornet. In 2007, under the direction of Bramwell Tovey, he became principal cornet and leader of the band. In 2006 Paul joined the Black Dyke Band, leaving in 2013.[1]
Paul studied a Bachelor (Honours) degree in Popular Music and Recording at Salford University between 2006 and 2009 and a Master of Arts degree in Music Production at Leeds Metropolitan University between 2011 and 2013.

In a 2014 interview, Duffy described the Black Dyke Band as one of the greatest brass ensembles in the world.[2]
