Description
A minute (body length 2,5-3,5 mm.) lustrous black fly with a round abdomen Body length 2-3 mm. Brilliant black. Eyes brown-red (male), obscure green (female).Yellow antennae (male and female). Legs pale yellow except a blackish ring, sometimes quite wide, at the apex of femora III. Yellowish wings with pale veins .Halteres yellowish-brown at the base.[2][3][4][5]
Biology
The habitat is woodland with oak and elm. Associated with alder, hazel. The flight period is from June to August.
Distribution
Northwest European Russia, Caucasus, Trans-Caucasus. Western Europe
