Oscar Renteria

Oscar Renteria is an American viticulturalist and California winemaker who specializes in the Napa Valley. Along with his father Salvador, Renteria runs Renteria Vineyard Management Co. which manages 1,800 acres (730 ha) for 27 wineries and Renteria Winery where the family produces wines under their own label.[1]

History

Renteria's father, Salvador, moved to Napa Valley in 1962 from Jalisco, Mexico. After working as a barber and pool shark, Salvador took a position working the vineyards for Sterling Vineyards in Napa where he quickly rose to crew leader due to his more advanced English-speaking abilities. From Sterling Salvador went on to pioneer several viticultural techniques in Napa Valley including different vine training systems and advance canopy management techniques.[1]

In 1987, Salvador started Renteria Vineyard Management Co., with his son Oscar eventually assuming control of the operation upon Salvador's retirement. They are the one of the largest vineyard managers in Napa and the largest in sub-regions like Pope Valley.[1]

Winery clients

Among the wineries that Oscar Renteria and Renteria Vineyard Management Co. have worked with include Screaming Eagle, Domaine Chandon, Dalla Valle, Trefethen, Caymus Vineyards, Duckhorn, Beaulieu Vineyard, Clos Pegase, Cuvaison Winery, Silverado Vineyards, and Williams Selyem.[1]

Current clients include wineries from nearly every single Napa Valley including Vine Cliff (Howell Mountain AVA and Oakville AVA), Rombauer (Calistoga AVA and Rutherford AVA), Von Strasser (Diamond Mountain AVA), Constant Wine, Robert Keenan Winery, Juslyn (Spring Mountain AVA), Silver Oak Cellars (St. Helena AVA), Continuum Estate, Merryvale, Duckhorn, Groth Vineyards and Baldacci Family Vineyards (Stags Leap District).[1]

gollark: Maybe I should use firejail or something.
gollark: I mean, my computer is quite good. All modern ones are. It can happily execute billions of operations a second and read a GB/s or so from the disk. Yet somehow GIMP takes *seconds* to start. It's ridiculous.
