Oberoi Realty is a public limited real estate development company based out of Mumbai, Maharashtra. Vikas Oberoi heads the company as its Chairman and Managing Director.[5] In 2010, Oberoi Realty got listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE).[6]

Oberoi Realty is primarily into the development of premium residential projects along with commercial, retail, hospitality and social infrastructure projects.

The company currently has projects in Worli, Khar, Juhu, Andheri, Goregaon, Borivali in the western suburbs and Mulund and Thane in the central suburbs. The total land parcel under construction is 27.43 million square feet.

History

Oberoi Realty was incorporated as Kingston Properties Private Limited in 1998. Oberoi Constructions Private Ltd. (OCPL) was incorporated under the Companies Act on 2 November 1993, in Mumbai[7]. OCPL is involved in the business of real estate development and related activities and is a 100% subsidiary of Oberoi Realty Ltd. The current name Oberoi Realty was adopted on 22 October 2009, to clarify the exact nature of business and operations. Immediately thereafter, the company became a "Public Limited" entity and consequently, the name was changed to Oberoi Realty Limited[8].

Oberoi Garden City, the flagship project was developed in Goregaon East on an 80-acre land parcel. The company had acquired the land parcel in Feb 2002. By 2005, Oberoi Realty expanded into Andheri (West & East) and Mulund (West)[9]. Besides developing real estate Oberoi Realty developed and completed hospitality project, The Westin Mumbai - Garden City based on an operating agreement model. The hotel building (including fixtures and fittings) is owned by Oberoi Realty whereas the operations are handled by Starwood Asia Pacific Hotels and Resorts Pte. Limited (Starwood‖) then now owned by Marriott International under the Westin brand. The hotel has been operational since May 2010.[10]
