Nuvance Health is a not-for-profit health system in New York State's Mid-Hudson Valley region and western Connecticut. Nuvance Health was created by the merging of Health Quest and Western Connecticut Health Network.[1][2] It employs approximately 2600 doctors and 12,000 professional staff, and serves an area with approximately 1.5 million residents. The President of Nuvance was Robert Freidberg, former President & CEO of Health Quest. The CEO of Nuvance is Dr. John Murphy, former President & CEO of Western Connecticut Health Network. The headquarters are located in Lagrangeville, NY[3].

Nuvance says they do not plan on laying off any staff as part of the merger. President Robert Friedberg said that the organization is looking to other avenues to reduce costs, such as consolidating purchasing[4]. The newly-formed company is projecting to save a total of $100 million across fiscal years 2019-2021[5]. In agreeing to allow the merger to continue, the Connecticut Office of Health Services set several conditions that must be followed, including capping increases in costs, and increasing funding for a community benefit program[6]. Nuvance must also add 14 community representatives to the board of directors, to ensure a continued focus on community needs.
