The district is located in sections of Fayette and Clayton counties, and serves West Union, Clermont, Elgin, Fayette, Hawkeye, and Wadena.[3][4]
Elementary schools are located in Elgin, Fayette and West Union; the middle school is located in Elgin and the high school is located in West Union.
It formed on July 1, 2018, as a merger of the North Fayette Community School District and the Valley Community School District.[5]
