Nomad Songs

Nomad Songs is the 23rd studio album by the German world musician Stephan Micus. The album was released in June 2015 through ECM Records.[2] Like all of his albums, it was produced by Micus himself, unlike most of the other records on the ECM label, which are produced by label boss Manfred Eicher.

Composition

Stephan Micus is always seeking to find new traditional instruments. He learned their history and how to play. Then he composes new music and plays all of these traditional instruments on albums. On Nomad Songs, he plays two new instruments, a genbri (a Moroccan lute) and a ndingo (a Botswanan lamellophone).[2]

Reception

John Kelman in his review for All About Jazz gave a four and a half stars and says that "Nomad Songs is, despite the perennially pensive and reflective nature of his entire body of work, a shift from the more conceptually focused Panagia, which was based around prayers to the Virgin Mary."[1]

Personnel

gollark: ```'I [suspect] that we are throwing more and more of our resources, including the cream of our youth, into financial activities remote from the production of goods and services, into activities that generate high private rewards disproportionate to their social productivity. I suspect that the immense power of the computer is being harnessed to this 'paper economy', not to do the same transactions more economically but to balloon the quantity and variety of financial exchanges.'--James Tobin, July 1984```
gollark: What about vertexlords?
gollark: Stupid TVTropes adblocker complaining. They can have their 0.01p when they switch to nice unobtrusive textual ads which don't incorporate piles of tracking.
gollark: Depends how complex a process you're okay with to get the energy.
gollark: The power of Regulatory Capture™ for messing up everything!
