Niron Hashai is a Professor of Strategy and International Business at IDC Herzliya.[1]

Career

Hashai holds a B.Sc. in Information Systems Engineering from the Technion, an MBA and a PhD from the Faculty of Management at Tel Aviv University.

In 2002 he was admitted as a lecturer at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and in 2012 received the rank of Associate Professor at the School of Business Administration at the Hebrew University. In 2017, Prof. Hashai moved to the Arison School of Business at IDC Herzliya. As of 2019, Professor Hashai serves as head of the MBA[2] programs.

During his years at the Hebrew University, Prof. Hashai served as Associate Dean and Head of Strategy and Entrepreneurship area at the Hebrew University's School of Business Administration. In addition, he served as the academic director of the Executive MBA program at the Hebrew University, as the Albertson-Waltuch, Chair in Business Administration and as the academic director of the Asper Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the School of Business Administration at the Hebrew University.[3]

Professor Hashai is also a visiting professor at New York University, the University of Manchester,[4] and at the Dunning Research Center, Reading University. In the past, he held guest positions at the Blavatnik School of Government at Oxford University and at Leeds University Business School.

Professor Hashai is a co-founder of the Hebrew University Entrepreneurship Center, and of the Israel Strategy Conference (ISC)[5]

Research

The research of Professor Hashai focuses on the theory of multinational companies, the growth processes of small high-tech companies, the relationship between product diversification and firm performance, the relationship between technological innovation and international expansion, and the growth patterns of small high-tech companies[6]

Prof. Hashai's main research contribution includes:

A. Presenting innovative models that analyze the impact of knowledge transfer within multinational corporations on location and outsourcing decisions.

B. Identification of unique stages in the international expansion processes of small and young high-tech companies.[7]

C. Analyzing the complex relationships between product diversification and firm performance.

Professor Hashai's research has been published in leading management, strategy, innovation and international business journals such as the Strategic Management Journal[8], the Journal of International Business Studies[9], Strategy Science[10], the Journal of Management[11] and Research Policy.

In addition, Prof. Hashai published several books and book chapters in his research areas.

Professor Hashai is a member of the editorial board of leading journals including: the Strategic Management Journal[12] the Journal of International Business Studies[13] and the Global Strategy Journal.[14] He also served as an Associate Editor at the Journal of International Management in 2019-2020.

Business Leadership

Before joining academia, Professor Hashai worked for 4 years (1990-1994) as a project manager at Amanet.[15] He has then been a founding partner of MEITAR – an international consulting and trading company that was active mainly in fostering business connections between Israel, Egypt, Jordan and Turkey, until the year 2000. Currently Professor Hashai is involved in executive education and strategic consulting projects for leading Israeli and foreign corporations.

Personal life

Professor Hashai was born in Netanya, israel. he is the son of the Bella and Yehuda Hashai. He is married to Einat, who works at Asif School in Assaf Harofeh Medical Center, where she engages in technological accessibility. The couple lives in Shoham and has three children: Ido, Gil and Assaf. Professor Hashai is a long distance runner. As of 2007 he runs with the GRC running club.[16]
