Nicolas Basta

Nikollë Basta was an Albanian[1][2] Epirote[3] (fl. 1580s) military commander in service of the Spanish[4] and Italian[5] forces of Netherlands under the Duke of Alba in 1567.[6] His father Demetrius Basta had served in the House of Austria in 40 years. Basti was probably related to Giorgio Basta. The Duke of Parma was much impressed with Bastas fighting in the region of La Fére[7] that he honored him by sending him to the Assistance of the Elector of Cologne.
