The 2020 Nova Scotia Liberal Party leadership election will take place at a date that is to be deteremined to elect a leader to replace Stephen McNeil, who resigned on August 6, 2020[1] after leading the party since 2007 and returning the party to government status for the first time since 1999 in 2013.

Stephen McNeil announced that he would be resigning as leader on August 6, 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic in Nova Scotia. McNeil will remain on as Premier and leader until the new leader is chosen.[1]
