The station opened on 12 March 1861 by the Portpatrick and Wigtownshire Joint Railway. To the north was the goods yard. A locomotive shed was built in 1920, situated to the west at the junction. The station closed to both passengers and goods traffic on 14 June 1965.[1] The goods shed survives.[2]
