New Zealand Conservation Authority

The New Zealand Conservation Authority is an advisory body to the New Zealand Department of Conservation and to the Minister of Conservation.

Its stated mission is:

"To ensure for the people of New Zealand, that the richness of New Zealand's natural and cultural heritage is valued, restored, maintained, and cared for by all, in order to enhance our environment and quality of life."

Since early 2019, the chairperson has been Edward Ellison, a sheep farmer and former deputy kaiwhakahaere (administrator) of Te Runanga o Ngāi Tahu (TRoNT).[1]
