Route description

View at the north end of SR 602 looking southbound in 2015

State Route 602 begins at the intersection of Bonanza Road (SR 579) and Casino Center Boulevard near the downtown core of Las Vegas. From there, the route heads south along Casino Center Boulevard, passing underneath the Interstate 515/U.S. Route 93/U.S. Route 95 freeway. Casino Center becomes a one-way street southbound as it passes under the freeway, feeding into the downtown casino district. SR 602 ends at the Casino Center Boulevard intersection with Stewart Avenue.[1][2]

History

SR 602 was formerly part of State Route 5B

Casino Center Boulevard was previously part of former State Route 5B, a route that had been established by 1952. SR 5B followed what was then Second Street, from Bonanza Road (then SR 5A) south past Stewart Avenue to end at Fremont Street (which was SR 5, SR 6 and possibly US 91 and US 93 at the time), a distance of approximately 0.43 miles (0.69 km).[3]

The SR 5B designation was eliminated in the 1976 renumbering of Nevada's state highways. Presumably, State Route 602 was assigned at that time.

Major intersections

The entire route is in Las Vegas, Clark County.
