The film concerns the struggles of a woman in a suburb of the capital; Harare, Warren Park, in Zimbabwe when she is widowed after her husband is killed in an accident. Her husband's older brother takes advantage of the death of his younger brother, and uses the inheritance for self-benefit at the expense of Neria and her two children. Its sound track neria remains one of the most celebrated Zimbabwean songs.[2] The soundtrack of the film was sung by Oliver Mtukudzi.

Plot The film starts with portraying Neria and her husband Patrick painting their house while their son plays nearby. Soon Patrick asks to leave and the family looks generally happy. A neighbour, who is friend to Neria calls her and they exchange pleasantries. Soon Patrick's mother, who was dozing nearby starts calling Neria and she has to go tend to her. She asks for her son, and when Neria tells her that he has gone out, she laments to herself that Neria is not a good enough wife for her son, since she ddnt ask her son to say bye to her
