National Institute of Cancer Research and Hospital
National Institute of Cancer Research and Hospital (NICRH) is the only specialized government institute and tertiary level cancer hospital in Bangladesh. It was established in 1982 by the Government of Bangladesh.

"Cancer Research Bangladesh (Cancer Research BD)" is an international umbrella organisation providing cancer research & cancer information for the people of Bangladesh.
The institute organised a conference in October 2014 to publicise the difficulties they faced in persuading women to seek early treatment for breast cancer because of embarrassment. Prof Mohammad Golam Mostafa also said that in Bangladesh many more women aged between 15 and 20 are found suffering from breast cancer than in other countries in his opinion, due to eating vegetables and fruits which had been treated with toxic chemicals.[1]
Objectives

- To take necessary steps for cancer prevention and control
Activities
- All diagnostic activities- for cancer detection
- All kinds of treatments- surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy etc.
- Hospital Based Cancer Registry
- It has formulated National Guidelines for high- quality, cost- effective cancer treatment plan for 4 common cancers of our country.
- Different training programs- for health professionals –histopathologists, gynecologists, nurses, technologists, community leaders etc.
- Organizing tobacco prevention & cessation programmes in the community.
- Participation in national activities- such as observance of World Cancer Day, World Pediatric Cancer Day, No Tobacco Day, Breast & Cervical cancer awareness month and chalking out of special Breast Cancer Screening Campaign in the victory month of December from 2015.
