Narayan, Narain or Narayanan is a common Indian given name, and it is some times used in west as a family name of people of Indian origin. It is identical in form to the name of the deity Narayana an important Sanskrit name for Vishnu and in many contemporary vernaculars. The form Narayanan is predominantly used in South India especially among Malayalam and Tamil speakers.
