Nannette Miranda

Nannette Miranda is a former television journalist and current communications director for California Assemblyman Phil Ting.[1]

Background

Miranda was raised in Fremont and graduated from Moreau Catholic High School in Hayward, California.[2] She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Berkeley in California in Mass Communications before receiving her Master of Science from Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism.[2]

Career

Nannette began her broadcasting career working for Marianas Cablevision in Saipan.[2] She then joined NBC affiliate KTAL in Shreveport, Louisiana, as the East Texas bureau reporter.[2] After, she moved to ABC affiliate KOAT in Albuquerque, New Mexico as a reporter.[2] In 2000, Miranda joined ABC affiliate WFTS in Tampa, Florida, where she was also an adjunct professor of Journalism at St. Petersburg College in Clearwater, Florida from 2001 to 2003.[2]

In 2003, Miranda moved to California to become the Sacramento Bureau Chief for all ABC Owned Television Stations in California, which include KABC in Los Angeles, KGO in San Francisco, and KFSN in Fresno.[2] There, she provided political and regional coverage regarding state government, together with KGO political reporter, Mark Matthews.[3] In 2013, ABC closed its Sacramento bureau and Miranda was laid off.[3]

In March 2014, Miranda joined NBC's Bay Area owned-and-operated station, KNTV, as a reporter,[4] but left in June 2015.[5]

Since February 2018, she has been the communications director for Phil Ting, who represents California's 19th State Assembly district in the California State Assembly.[1]

Awards and accomplishments

Miranda was awarded the Best Foreign Reporting Award in 2002 and the Best Breaking News Award in 2003 from the Society of Professional Journalists during her time in Florida.[2]
