Nadia Dowshen

Nadia L. Dowshen is an American pediatrician and adolescent medicine physician specializing in the care of youth living with HIV infection and medical care to transgender and gender-diverse youth. Dowshen researches health inequality, access to care, and promoting resilience in LGBT youth.

Education

Dowshen earned a medical degree and master of science in health policy research (MSHP) at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania (Penn Med). She completed a pediatric residency at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). Dowshen conducted fellowships in general academic pediatrics at the Lurie Children's Hospital and adolescent medicine at CHOP.[1]

Career and research

Dowshen is a board-certified pediatrician and adolescent medicine specialist. She is cofounder and medical director of the gender and sexuality development clinic at CHOP. Dowshen provides specialized care for youth living with HIV infection and medical care to transgender and gender-diverse youth. Her research is dedicated to addressing health inequality, access to care, and promoting resilience for LGBT youth.[2]

Dowshen is an assistant professor of pediatrics at Penn Med.[1]
