Musa (Arabic: مُوساَ), corresponding to Moses (see also Musa in Islam), originally is a word in the Egyptian and Arabic language. There is no absolute definition for the name in Arabic; however, in the ancient Egyptian languages, the name is Musa translated as, "Newborn" and/or "saved by the water". Also sometimes spelled Mosa, Moosa, Mousa, or Moussa. The most common spelling is "Musa". The Qur’an, it describes the prophet Musa as "وَلَدً" which is translated as “boy” or “newborn”, further supporting the recently discovered, definition of the name “Musa”.
