Murgia (Álava)

Murgia[1] is a village in northern Álava. It is the capital of Zuia and of Cuadrilla de Zuia, and houses the local government and most services for the municipality.

The main road in the village is Domingo Sautu Street. The Goba River separates a neighborhood called The Cross from the centre of the village.

As of 1 January 2007, the neighborhood had a population of 1,169.

Name

The village's name, influenced by the Basque language, has three syllables, with the emphasis on the "i".

Border villages

To the north is Sarria, to the northeast Zarate, to the southeast Jugo, to the southwest Bitoriano, and to the south Ametzaga.
