Mind the Gap Films

Mind the Gap Films is an award-winning Irish producer of original, unscripted formats and factual content.

We create serious fun and we love telling great stories. Bill Hughes and Bernadine Carraher set up Mind the Gap Films in 2001. The company specialises in television entertainment, music, documentaries and factual-entertainment programming. We regularly work on large-scale productions with budgets over €1 million. And we regularly win awards. We have produced programmes and series for all broadcasters on the island of Ireland – RTE1, RTE2, TV3, TG4 and BBCNI. We have also produced five major music specials for PBS in the US in Ireland, Northern Ireland and the Czech Republic. We have vast experience of live and pre-recorded Outside Broadcast both on location and in studio. Our track record is strong in acquiring funding through the BAI's Sound & Vision Fund and the Section 481 Tax Incentive Scheme. Mind the Gap Films specialises in creating and producing home-grown original formats and have achieved ratings successes with IFTA-award-winning series “Brendan O’Connor’s Cutting Edge”, and IFTA-nominated “Lords & Ladles” which has achieved international popularity and is currently on air in 26 territories and streaming on Netflix.  ‘Healthy Appetite’ – is a brand new Mind the Gap format featuring the country's top chefs competing to make their decadent signature dishes healthier.

Our formats are distributed by Fremantle and Nordic World.
