Introduction

Michael D. Navrkal has served as a commissioned officer of the Army National Guard for more than 32 years. He served from Private to Major General and had several postings over the course of his long and dedicated career, which includes being a platoon leader to a division commander. Most recently, the retired General acted as a Mobilization Assistant to the Deputy Commander of the United States Strategic Command Force in Nebraska. [1]

Since the time of his commissioning in 1981, MG (Ret) Navrkal has been in myriad leadership positions successfully. He is currently working with Air Methods Corporation as Vice President of Customer Experience.

Education

Michael Navrkal got his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Nebraska. He went on to get his Master’s in Security Management from Bellevue University, after which he entered the U.S. Army War College. Here, he gained another Master’s in Strategic Studies.

Besides formal education, he attended several military schools for various kinds of training, including the Army War College, the Joint Task Force Commanders Course, Advanced Joint Professional Military, , and the National Security Studies Management Course (NSSMC) from Syracuse University, New York.

Career

Michael D. Navrkal was commissioned by the US Military in 1981, where he has led at every level from Company to Division Commander. At the time of retirement, Navrkal was a Major General in the US Army National Guard. He led thousands of service members in his country and abroad in the several postings he was assigned during the course of his career.

He had several notable achievements as a uniformed leader. For instance, MG (Ret) Navrkal led the historic 35th Infantry Division located at Fort Leavenworth, KS. He was a Battalion Commander for over 1,700 soldiers deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2007, where he led from the front. Besides these military achievements, General Navrkal also served at a National level as a key collaborator between the Director of the Army National Guard and the DoD.

General Navrkalalso worked with the Department of Army leaders and the National Guard Bureau Joint leadership on matters related to recruitment, training, and equipping the Army National Guard. Additionally, he served as a Department of the Army Tri-Chair member on the National Commission on the Future of the Army implementation team.

Besides his military career, Navrkal also has a distinguished and promising business leadership career. His expertise is in sales, operations, and customer service management, which helped him serve as the Vice President of Pro-Savvy, an E-procurement start-up. He was also Vice President for JCIT Inc., where he took responsibility for implementing lean manufacturing education, process reengineering consulting services and Information Technology products and services.

At the National Guard Association of Nebraska and the National Guard Association of the United States, Navrkal served both as member and Past President. Currently, he serves as the Chair at Nebraska Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Committee.
