Melinda Ademi is a Kosovar hip hop singer.

Biography

Melinda was born in Kosovo, but had to leave the country because of the Kosovo War and came to the United States with her family as a refugee.[1] In an interview on American Idol, she and her family explain the harshness of fleeing Kosovo, shootings between the borders of Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina, and how lucky they were to be able to access the Green Card and take refuge in the United States.

Career

She began her career on the talent show American Idol in 2011, where she was chosen as a participant, although without achieving a good position. She returned to the same contest two years later, reaching the semifinals.

In 2015 she released her first single Purr, but it is not until 2018 with the release of Lulija when she gets recognition and fame for the entire Albanian diaspora in the world.

Now she is one of the most famous artists in the Albanian music world with her songs Pika Pika and Çifteli having more than 20 million views on YouTube.[2]
