Matteson School District 162

Matteson School District 162 is a school district in Illinois, United States, based in the south suburbs of Chicago.[1] The district enrolls nearly 3,000 students, serving portions of Matteson, Richton Park, Olympia Fields, and Park Forest. The school district is 91% African American, 4.6% Hispanic, 1.8% White, 1.4% Two or more races, 0.7% Asian, and 0.1% American Indian. 80% of students receive free and reduced lunch.[2]

The district is currently headquartered in Richton Park, it was previously headquartered in Matteson.[3]

Southland is a public charter high school located in Richton Park, Illinois. The school serves all of Matteson District 162. The school is 91.2% African American, 4.4% Hispanic, 1.5% White, and 0.2% Asian.

O.W. Huth Middle School (Matteson)

O.W. Huth Middle School is a public middle school in Matteson, Illinois, serving roughly 600 students in 7th and 8th grade. The school is 92% African American, 4.4% Hispanic, 1.9% White, 1% Two or more races, 0.6% Asian, and 0.2% American Indian.[4]
