Mary Clarkson

Mary Clarkson (born 1 December 1962) is the former Lord Mayor of Oxford, England. She has been the City Councillor for Marston since 1998. [1]

She served as Lord Mayor in 2009–10.

Personal life

Mary was born in Birmingham but grew up in West Yorkshire and Liverpool, where her father was a Methodist minister, She attended Birkenhead High School and subsequently studied English at St John's College, Oxford, where she met her husband, Michael Tappin QC. They have four children: Hugh, Frances, Helen and Lucy. Mary worked in the electricity industry in human resources, in the Institute of Directors Policy Unit and for Towers Perrin Management Consultants before entering local politics in Oxford.
