Reception
Marx in the Mid-Twentieth Century received a positive review from Edward D. Wilde in American Political Science Review.[3] The book was also discussed by Hwa Yol Jung in Continental Philosophy Review.[4]
The philosophers Joseph Bien and Heinz Paetzold identified Petrović as Croatia's leading 20th-century philosopher. They stated that Marx in the Mid-Twentieth Century is, together with Philosophie und Revolution, one of the works for which he is best remembered.[5] Petrović's treatment of Marx's theory of history has been commended for its care by the political theorist Norman Geras.[6]
