The school's mascot is the Hawk. The original mascot was the Aristocrats, but quickly changed when a profane joke involving aristocrats became popular in the late 1970s.

The school offers a variety of varsity athletics. It currently holds the state championship conference title in football and is defending the state girls' alpine skiing conference title and state champion title.

The school has won multiple SMAA championships in recent years. In the 2010–2011 season, boys' alpine skiing, wrestling, and cheering all won SMAA. In the 2011–2012 school year the school's field hockey team placed second in Class A.

History

In 1966, the towns of Eliot and South Berwick joined to form MSAD #35, and a new high school was built on Depot Road in Eliot. The high school was relocated to Route 236 in South Berwick in 2000.[2]

gollark: Probably.
gollark: Discord does, at least, make it simpler to set something up without your own server, has message history, and is less cryptic.
gollark: Well, now, most communities (like this) which would probably run on IRC use Discord, which involves reliance on that single company & giving them all your datas.
gollark: I'm somewhat unhappy that Discord has mostly been used instead of some non-centralized solution.
gollark: It's not actually a hatchling, though.
