Marraco
In Catalan mythology, a Marraco is a dragon that said have a wide mouth big enough to eat humans whole. The word marraco comes from Basque.
Origin
For Lleida, the dragon is an animal totem of Lleida. We know of its existence in the fifth century. C. As a mythological animal never existed and its representation is free. For this animal was old Ilergets representation of their god, their symbol. The chiefs were regarded as children of God and as the most important leader was Indíbil the Marraco was considered his spiritual father.
Events
Today, there is an event that involves a monstrous figure of an animal-shaped dragon traveling with a vehicle at the Corpus Christi processions.
