Characteristics
The cells are thin, flexible rods. Mostly species are motile by gliding. They are saccharolytic and need NaCl for growing.[1]
Metabolism
All species of Marinilabiliaceae are heterotrophic, they do not perform photosynthesis.[1] The genera Alkaliflexus and Anaerophaga as well as some other genera have a strictly fermentative metabolism. Marinilabilia is facultatively anaerobic. It has respiratory and fermentative types of metabolism.[1]
Systematics
The Marinilabiliaceae consists of the following genera:[2]
- Alkaliflexus[3]
- Alkalitalea[3]
- Anaerophaga[3]
- Geofilum[3]
- Labilibacter[3]
- Mangroviflexus[3]
- Marinilabilia[3]
- Natronoflexus[3]
- Saccharicrinis[3]
- Thermophagus[3]

gollark: Yes.
gollark: The preprocessor *is* "great", I have to admit.
