Margaret Pospiech

Margaret (Małgorzata, Gosha) Pospiech is a writer, filmmaker,journalist, translator and photographer born in Poland, and now based in New York. She obtained her PhD from Wroclaw University where she studied literature, film and art.[1] She gained national recognition for her work as director and writer of a feature documentary about Arthur Penn, the famous American filmmaker. Malgorzata has made several documentaries for Polish TV, like "A Generation", which chronicles the plight of Polish people deported to Siberia by the Soviets and short documentaries about Polish artists. In addition to that she has compiled over 70 interviews on camera with veterans of World War II which are now housed in visual archives at the Polish Army Veteran's Association in Manhattan and linked to the official site of Peter Weir's movie The Way Back (2010).

As a writer, she has been contributing to the top Polish literary magazines for the past 20 years. She has published hundreds articles, essays, interviews, and reviews for both popular and academic publications. She works also as translator (published translations). She published Arthur Penn in Conversations (2011), novels: A Small Town ( Miasteczko) 2014 nominated for Central Europe Literary Award Angelus, The Seventh Ring ( Siodmy Krag ) 2016; Ariadne's Labyrinths (Klebki Ariadny)2017 nominated for Central Europe Literary Award Angelus; poetry A Notebook ( Notatnik) 2016 nominated for Silesius Poetry Award; Fog Over the River Styx (Mgły nad rzeką Styks)2019 nominated for Central Europe Literary Award Angelus.

In her photography she gravitates towards landscapes of New York, and portraits.

In her experimental films ("Heat", 2005) and video installations ("Wasteland" 2006–2009, "Landscapes" 2008–2010) she creates internal landscapes. She had several exhibitions and screenings in New York.
