Marcus T Grant

Marcus T Grant (born January 7, 1978) is a manager in the music industry.

Grant was founder/manager at TwentyThree 12 Artists Management Group in Los Angeles, California. Earlier positions include management of the pop / urban department at The Collective, and owning and operating Oralee Management. At Oralee, he independently managed a number of Grammy Award winning music acts, including Chamillionaire and 112,[1] while also developing such up and coming acts as Brick & Lace.[2]

Early career

Grant began his career in the music business in 1999, when he started as an intern at Sony Music, while also studying at California State University, Dominguez Hills and Harvard HBX Business Program. Eight months into his internship, he was chosen to participate in Sony Music’s Junior Executive Program, where he apprenticed under then Sony Music Chairman, Tommy Mottola. Shortly thereafter, Grant met music manager, Kenneth Crear, and together they formed an independent management company, whose clients included then unknown music artists Sisqo, Mary Mary,Debra Cox and Tamia.

Managerial career

With Mary Mary being Grant's first managerial effort, the duo went on to platinum status in the US, while also winning a number of awards, including the 2000 Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Gospel Album. In 2001, Grant and Crear sold their management company. Grant worked at The Firm from 2001 to 2006. While at The Firm, Grant was a member of the management teams for clients such as 112, Maxwell, Lionel Richie, Dru Hill, Mary Mary, Sisqó, Nick Carter, BSB and Korn among others. In 2008, Grant join the powerhouse management and new media company The Collective. While at the Collective, Grant help spearhead the publishing arm and music producer dept. Additionally, managing the careers of Toni Braxton, Kelly Rowland and Big Boi of Outkast.

Current activities

Grant was a manager/founder of TwentyThree 12 Artists Management Group, which was founded in 2015. Grant's clients include R&B artists Kelly Rowland, Toni Braxton and Big Boi, from hip-hop group Outkast.

Grant is an Executive Producer for Lifetime's biopic called “Un-Break My Heart,” based on singer Toni Braxton’s memoir. This biopic will air on Lifetime on January 23, 2016.

Grant is a member of City of Hope's Music Executive Committee, and sits on the board of The Living Legends Foundation and The Recording Academy as a Los Angeles Chapter Board Advisor. Additionally, he serves on the board of The Los Angeles Dodgers RBI Advisory Committee.
