Mail Transfer Protocol
The Mail Transfer Protocol (MTP) is an obsolete network protocol, defined in RFC 780, used to reliably transfer email. TCP and UDP ports 57 were allocated for MTP, but this allocation has now been removed by IANA.
Replacement
The Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP), defined in RFC 788 has now replaced the Mail Transfer Protocol.
