The District is named Louisa-Muscatine because it is on the border of Louisa and Muscatine counties.

The district, occupying sections of both counties, includes the cities of Letts, Grandview, and Fruitland as well as a portion of the city limits of Muscatine.[3] It also includes Cranston, an unincorporated area,[2] as well as students from various other local communities.[4]

History

In 2014, Ky Cochran of the Muscatine Journal wrote that the district "continues to face financial difficulties", and that the superintendent asked the board to not increase his own salary while the board was to increase the salaries of other staff.[5]

Facilities

The campus consists of a preschool through 6th grade elementary building and a 7th through 12th grade secondary building.[2] It is located south of Muscatine, Iowa and is three miles away from Letts.

The athletic facilities at the campus include a baseball and softball complex and an American football and track center.[2]

Jr./Sr. High School

The Jr.-Sr. High School was built in 1963 and has had three additions and a major renovation.

The Junior-Senior high building has an enrollment of approximately 200 students in junior high (7th & 8th Grade) and 320 high school students. There are thirty-two classroom faculty members, five special education instructors, a GTE instructor along with a junior/senior high school counselor. Course sections generally average 15 - 23 students.

The Junior-Senior high school uses an 8-block schedule. Each class period lasts 43 minutes. During each of the four nine-week terms, students are enrolled in a variety of subjects.

Louisa-Muscatine is involved in the School-to-Work (STW) initiative with Muscatine Community Schools and the Muscatine area business and industry.

Elementary School

L-M Elementary School is home to over 500 students.

gollark: On a specific breed, though? How would TJ09 mess that up?
gollark: How *did* TJ09 manage to break this, I wonder...
gollark: Well, probably not. The trader might have but probably didn't.
gollark: Nope.
