Biography
De Boer was born in Witveen. In 1913 she moved to Langezwaag[2]. She won her first race when she was 15 years old in Donkerbroek. She also won prizes in Winsum, Akkrum, Buitenpost, Sint Nicolaasga, Hardegarijp, Rottevalle, Kampen, Groningen, Scheemda and in many more other places. Most of the prizes she won were money prizes, but also won several luxury items. She also competed in couples competition together with her younger brother Jan de Boer in the 1932-33 winter season. In December 1932 they won the first prize in Warns, ahead of Tamme v. d. Zee and Geertje Popkema.
Like her sister Jitske, and some other well established speed skaters, she (only) had her skates sharpened by Sytse van der Molen.[4]
Family
Her mother Baukje de Boer-Veenstra (born 1881) was also a notable speed skater.[5] She had two older brothers (born 1901 and 1904), two older sisters (Jitske and Antje, born 1906 and 1908) and one younger brother (born 1913). Her older sister Jitske de Boer was also a successful speed skater, and as written above she skater together with her younger brother Jan de Boer.
De boer married Ruurd Tolman from Wijnjeterp on 15 May 1931. The marriage was dissolved by judgment on 9 February 1976.[6]
