Biography

He was born in Amsterdam as the son and pupil of Bartholomeus van der Helst.[1] His portrait of the admiral Augustus Stellingwerf was engraved by Abraham Blooteling. He lived and worked in Amsterdam, but appears to have left the city by 1684 and his place and date of death is uncertain.[1]
