  1. This unit was organized at Portsmouth Grove, Rhode Island on December 6, 1862. It mustered out of service on August 26, 1865. Presumably the unit was organized as infantry to guard both Union and Confederate soldiers who were recuperating in Rhode Island hospitals. No other information about this unit has been located and may require original research in the Rhode Island State Archives.
