In the Night Garden... is a BBC pre-school children's television programme, first broadcast daily on the CBeebies channel. Series 1 was broadcast starting on March 19th 2007 on the Discover and Do and Bedtime Hour blocks, with series 2 following from September 1st 2008. In 2010, the BBC confirmed that it would not be commissioning a third series.[1] [2][3]

2 The Tombliboos' Waving Game The Tombliboos wave to everybody as they fly through the garden in the Pinky Ponk. They wave to IgglePiggle, Upsy Daisy, Makka Pakka and the Haahoos.

This is the first episode to feature the Pinky Ponk and the Haahoos.

This is the first episode where the characters dance.

This is the first time the pontipines are absent in an episode

This is the first episode to have a goof but this is the first episode to have several goofs

This is the first cameo of the Wottingers and Pontipines, and the second cameo of the ninky nonk.

This is the first episode where the Tombliboos go to sleep first.

During the dance there were several goofs:

: In one scene during the dance, Makka Pakka and the Tombliboos speak but their lips don't move

: The gazebo was spinning the opposite way rather than its original way

: The pontipines and Wottingers can be seen crowded on several floors on a pole, not long after, the wottingers become separated from the pontipines, at the end they are in their original position

: The Gazebo had twice the amount of pictures when it was spinning, most likely it could be because it was the original BETA gazebo

3 Everybody All Aboard the Ninky Nonk Everybody goes for a ride in the Ninky Nonk. The Ninky Nonk stops for Makka Pakka but he does not get in to ride; instead he cleans it.

This is the first episode to feature the Ninky Nonk.

This is the first time the Ninky Nonk goes over Makka Pakka's bridge.

This is the first episode where Makka Pakka goes to sleep first.

4 The Prettiest Flower The Pontipines count to four and Upsy Daisy wants to look at all the pretty flowers in the garden. Igglepiggle takes Upsy Daisy on the Ninky Nonk to show her the prettiest flower.

5 Makka Pakka's Trumpet Makes a Funny Noise The Pontipines count to three and Makka Pakka's trumpet is making a funny noise. It turns out there is a stone stuck in it. He gives it to Upsy Daisy and she puts it in the drawer under her Bed.

This is the first episode to feature Upsy Daisy's Bed.

This is the first time Upsy Daisy pulls the ripcord on her waist.

This is the first time Upsy Daisy opens the little drawer under her bed.

This is the first episode to feature the Little Round Bush

6 The Pontipines in Upsy Daisy's Bed The Pontipines count up to five and go for a very long walk around the garden. They go in Upsy Daisy's bed and Upsy Daisy sends them flying back to their house.

This is the first episode to have the Daisy Patch.

This is the first time to have a character defeated before bedtime starts.

This is the first time Iggle Piggle (the most important character) is absent in an episode.

This is the first time that nobody dances in the Gazebo for a reason.

7 Who's Next on the Pinky Ponk The Tombliboos decide to ride in the Pinky Ponk, but no-one notices the Pontipines arrive. They play a game of "who is next". In order of appearance are Makka Pakka, Upsy Daisy, Iggle Piggle, and finally, the Pontipines. Soon, the Pinky Ponk takes everybody to the gazebo for a celebrating dance.

This is the first time that the dance starts without anyone hearing the signal call from the Gazebo.

This is the first time Igglepiggle, Upsy Daisy, Makka Pakka and the Pontipines ride the Pinky Ponk.

This is the first time the Pinky Ponk stops outside someone's house.

27 March 2007 The Pontipines Yes; The Pinky Ponk takes everybody to the Gazebo before the story.
8 Igglepiggle's Blanket in Makka Pakka's Ditch Igglepiggle has lost his blanket. Upsy Daisy helps him look for it. Makka Pakka finds it outside his cave and it seems to be running about by itself.

This is the first episode to feature the (Tittifers') Tree

This is the first time the Gazebo gives a clue.

This is the second episode to have a goof but it is the first time there is only one goof

Whilst the gazebo was trying to stopping, there was already a picture of makka Pakka near the tombliboo drums, they should have used that one instead and replace the pontipines with the blanket

9 The Ninky Nonk Wants a Kiss Upsy Daisy kisses everything in the garden, including a tree, a Daisy, Igglepiggle, the Tune Bridge and Makka Pakka. In the end she kisses the Ninky Nonk.

This is the only episode where Upsy Daisy's song was heard twice.

This is the first time for an episode to have a reprise song

This is the first episode ever to use the Alternative Gazebo

This episode has Upsy Daisy blowing 36 kisses. Which is a Garden Record.

When the gazebo starts spinning , it shows the original pictures, in close up, they got altered

10 Too Loud Tombliboos!! Nice and Quiet!! The Tombliboos are practising their music so loudly it can be heard all over the garden. The Pontipines know how to stop it by bouncing on the roof of their bush. Then, the Tombliboos play nice music so everybody joins in and that replaces the dance before bedtime.

This is the first episode to feature the Tombliboos' things: the Tombliboos' Instruments (the Tombliboos' Drums and the Tombliboos' Piano) and the Tombliboos' Bricks.

This is the first time the Pontipine children jump on top of the Tombliboo Bush roof, the second time will be in 'Pontipine Children on the roof'

11 Makka Pakka Gets Lost Makka Pakka sets off through the garden looking for stones but he loses his way. But the Pinky Ponk guides him home.

This is the only time Makka Pakka loses his way.


This is the first time that an episode of In the Night Garden was premiered on BBC TWO, and the first episode of in the Night Garden to be broadcast on the Get Set Go block.

12 Jumping for Everybody The Pontipines count to six and Upsy Daisy shows Igglepiggle how to jump. He can't at first because he is holding onto his blanket. Everyone (except the Wottingers) goes jumping.

This is the first time the narrator/Derek Jacobi has to wake up the Haahoos.

14 The Pinky Ponk Adventure / The Pinky Ponk Gets Stuck in a Tree When the pinky ponk gets struck by a tree, The Pinky Ponk gets stuck in the tree and tips up. Everybody slides to one end. IgglePiggle, Upsy Daisy, Makka Pakka, the Tombliboos and the Pontipines are on board. They get it out by rocking back and forth, eventually, the Pinky Ponk gets out.

This is the first time the Pinky Ponk gets struck by a tree.

This is the first time the pinky ponk makes its passengers slide back and forth

This is the only episode where the pontipines cover their eyes during the first Ponk Alert

This is the first time the Tittifers sing their song after everyone misses the dance.

15 The Tombliboos' Tower of Five The Tombliboos are inside their bush, building with their very own bricks. They build a tower of 5 blocks. Also, five of the Pontipines make a tower of 5 standing on top of each other and Makka Pakka makes a tower of 5 stones.

This is the only episode to air on Independence Day

16 Igglepiggle's Mucky Patch Igglepiggle falls down flat and gets a mucky patch on his tummy. It gets on his blanket, Upsy Daisy and their Ninky Nonk carriage. Makka Pakka cleans them.

This is the first time the Ninky Nonk goes up a tree, and the second time that an episode airs on BBC II.

This is the only time the ninky nonk gets mucky patches

17 Funny Noise Coming From the Pinky Ponk The Tombliboos are riding in the Pinky Ponk, enjoying their Pinky Ponk Juice. Each of them makes a different funny noise when they sip their juice. Despite a request from the narrator to drink their Pinky Ponk Juice gently and carefully, the game continues until everyone in the garden can hear the noise coming from the Pinky Ponk. 18 Quiet Please Tombliboos, Upsy Daisy Wants to Sing Upsy Daisy sets up her own special megaphone to sing. The Tombliboos play music, which disturbs her. They all perform with the Pontipines. 13 June 2007[9] Upsy Daisy No
19 The Tombliboos Clean Their Teeth The Tombliboos run all over the inside of their bush, looking for their toothbrushes. They are so happy that they tell the news to everybody around the garden except the Pontipines and the Haahoos. Makka Pakka washes their faces before bedtime begins.

This is the first episode to feature the tombliboo toothbrushes

When the tombliboos put their trousers on, a fly can be seen.

The title is misleading, as the tombliboos have no teeth.

20 Makka Pakka Under Igglepiggle's Blanket / IgglePiggle's Blanket Walks About by Itself Igglepiggle goes dancing. Igglepiggle's blanket has landed on Makka Pakka and seems to be running about by itself. The blanket drops and out comes Makka Pakka. 21 The Pontipine Children in the Tombliboos' Trousers The Pontipines go for a long walk to the Tombliboo house, where the children play a game. They go in the Tombliboos' trousers but they get stuck in Tombliboo Eee's. They bounce themselves out back to their home.

This is the first episode to feature the Wottingers.

22 A Big Loud Sing Song Upsy Daisy chooses to sing through her megaphone, and the Pontipines cover their ears. Makka Pakka joins in playing his trumpet. Then they call the Pontipines on the Trubliphones.

23 Playing Hiding with Makka Pakka The Pontipines count to eight and the Tombliboos discover a new game – hiding in the garden. Where have they gone? 24 The Ball The Pontipines count to seven and a ball bounces around the garden visiting one character after another, even the Pontipines themselves.

This is the first episode to feature the Ball visiting its bouncing relatives the Haahoos.

25 Where is the Pinky Ponk Going? Everyone in the Night Garden except Makka Pakka boards the Pinky Ponk for a very special journey. It takes them to see an Olly Bolly Dob Dob flower growing high above the garden just in time.

This is the only time the Pinky Ponk uses its turning sound, however, it changed to the landing sound as heard in 'Mr Pontipine's Moustache flies away'

30 Tombliboo Ooo Drinks Everybody Else's Pinky Ponk Juice Everyone except Makka Pakka and the Pontipines is riding on the Pinky Ponk, but Tombliboo Ooo is more interested in drinking Pinky Ponk Juice. Later he gets a tummy ache after drinking Tombliboo Unn's and Eee's, Upsy Daisy's, and Iggle Piggle's Pinky Ponk Juice, then the Pinky Ponk is struck by the big tree it got stuck in in the episode "The Pinky Ponk Adventure". 47 Daisy's Tiring Walk Igglepiggle and Upsy Daisy go for a very long walk. Upsy Daisy feels tired after such a long walk. Later, they ride the Ninky Nonk all the way to the Tune Bridge for the dance at the Gazebo.

This the first time a Haahoo's pattern is flipped around.

Upsy Daisy and Igglepiggle's walking resembles the hyenas marching from the lion king during Be Prepared

This is the third time the Haahoos show up at the bridge.

Makka Pakka's Cave was missing behind the bridge.

The bridge wasn't far away from Upsy Daisy and Igglepiggle, but they both make their journey longer.

52 Dinner In The Ninky Nonk The Pontipines decide to have their dinner on the Ninky Nonk. They go on a bouncy ride all over the Garden. Their dinner gets all over them and they go home for a bath after the ride, along with the Wottingers for the dance at the Gazebo.

This is the first time the Pontipines bring their dinner on the Ninky Nonk. The second time will be in 'Ninky Nonk Dinner Swap.'

This is the first time the Ninky Nonk goes round and round on the branches in the tree. The second time will be in 'What A Funny Ninky Nonk.'

53 Igglepiggle's Tiddle A mysterious jet of water, a tiddle, appears suddenly next to Igglepiggle. He controls it by stamping his feet 3 times. He shows the tiddle to Makka Pakka, who uses it to clean his sponge. 12 March 2008[43] Makka Pakka Yes
54 Tombliboo Eee Gets Lost Tombliboo Eee becomes separated from the other two Tombliboos, Unn and Ooo. They wander all over the garden looking for each other until Tombliboo Eee meets Upsy Daisy, who calls for the others with her megaphone.

The narrator is finding out who made everyone around the garden move very fast. Tombliboo Eee plays the drum so fast that everyone moves over ten times as fast. Igglepiggle and Upsy Daisy dance very fast and Igglepiggle squeaks quickly, Makka Pakka washes his sponges quickly, Tombliboo Unn and Ooo play around the bush quickly, and the Haahoos bounce quickly. The narrator slows them down but they cannot slow down. Soon, He asks Tombliboo Eee to slow down everyone to normal speed so they can dance in the Gazebo.

This is the first time that an episode starts with the Haahoos.

This is the only episode where the creators change the speed of some scenes

In the story, tombliboo Eee has 2 drumsticks, however, all the tombliboos' drums are meant to only have one drumstick

2 57 Be Careful Tombliboos! While travelling in the Pinky Ponk, the Tombliboos are drinking their Pinky Ponk juice and they played a trading game. The Pinky Ponk hits and gets stuck up a tree and tips up that the Pinky Ponk juice containers messes the Tombliboos' trousers. Luckily. after the ride, Makka Pakka uses his Uff-Uff to clean the Tombliboos' trousers so they can dance in the Gazebo.

This is the first and second time and the only episode where the pinky ponk is struck by a tree without it carrying any passengers 'The pinky ponk tips up as it is stuck in the tree, however, the tombliboos are in their original places instead of at the bottom by the balcony door

3 58 Igglepiggle's Noisy Day Everything in the garden is so noisy that Igglepiggle moves away to find a peaceful place. Upsy Daisy sings into her megaphone very loudly, Makka Pakka cleans stones and plays his trumpet very loudly, the Tombliboos play loud music, and the Pontipine children play with the doorbell while their parents call them. Upsy Daisy calms down Igglepiggle. which makes everyone happy and quiet. Igglepiggle's heart beats in a normal rate and he becomes happy too. 3 September 2008 Upsy Daisy Yes

The Pinky Ponk stops the wind by using its propellers to turn the garden back to normal and the Tombliboos get their trousers back in time for the dance.

It then settles on the Pinky Ponk, the pinky ponk whips the moustache onto Mrs pontipine's hat and Mrs. Pontipine gives Mr. Pontipine his moustache back.

This is the only time the Ninky Nonk stops on a tree branch.

After everyone gets on board, they wave and enjoy the ride.

The Pinky Ponk arrives at the Gazebo late so they dance late.

This is the only time the Pinky Ponk gets struck by the Tombliboos Bush and the first time it gets struck by Igglepiggle's Gazebo

31 86 Sad and Happy Tombliboos Tombliboo Ooo is building a tower of bricks. Tombliboo Eee spots her favourite brick in Ooo's tower and knocks it over trying to get her brick. Ooo is upset about his tower and starts to play sad music on the Tombliboo piano. Ooo's sad music makes Eee and Unn sad as well so they join in.

The Tombliboos' sad music makes everybody else in the garden sad. Tombliboo Unn decides to start playing the Tombliboo drums. The Tombliboos begin to play happy music, which makes everyone happy again. Igglepiggle gets up, Upsy Daisy wakes up, Makka Pakka comes outside and plays his trumpet, and the Pontipines play outside.

The ball wants to play with the Tombliboos, but they would rather play with their bricks, build their own arch, and avoid the ball. Suddenly, the ball crashes into the Tombliboo Bush and their arch is knocked over. They decide that playing with the ball is more fun. They play with the ball and they feel happy. When they are finished, Tombliboo Unn tosses the ball away and everybody dances at the end.
