Lim Chu Kang Bus Terminal

Lim Chu Kang Bus Terminal (Chinese: 林厝港巴士终站) is a bus terminal located at the end of Lim Chu Kang Road. Service 975, run by SMRT, loops at the terminal from Bukit Panjang Bus Interchange. This bus service predominantly serves the people working in Lim Chu Kang and the bus terminal only serves those working and/or living in the rural Lim Chu Kang area. As of today, the bus terminal has been converted to a bus stop named Police Coast Guard, owing to this SPF unit's Lim Chu Kang Regional Base being located less than 100 metres away.

Vicinity

In the immediate vicinity is the Lim Chu Kang Coast Guard Regional Base and a long wooden jetty serving small motorboats for nearby "kelongs" on the Straits of Johor, which are floating fish and seafood farms located in Singapore's territorial waters bordering neighbouring Malaysia.

Lim Chu Kang is a countryside area mixed with agricultural farms (ranging from rearing cattle to growing vegetables) and military training areas (for the army and the air force). Much of the former is located on the eastern edge of Lim Chu Kang Road, while the military-designated areas lie to the west of the narrow two-lane road.

History

In the 1980s, Lim Chu Kang Road End Bus Terminal was served by Services 172 (to Shenton Way Bus Terminal and later shortened to loop at Jalan Anak Bukit) and 206 (to Jurong Bus Interchange and later amended to Boon Lay Bus Interchange).

On 3 January 1993, Service 172 was amended to Boon Lay Bus Interchange. On 18 July 1993, Service 175 was introduced to loop at Upper Bukit Timah Road while Service 206 was withdrawn on the same day and replaced by service 405 (Which ply between Boon Lay Bus Interchange and Old Choa Chu Kang Road (Loop)). Service 175 became the only bus service to use the terminal. On 26 December 1999, Service 175 was handed over from SBS to TIBS (now SMRT Buses). On 27 February 2005, Service 175 was renumbered to 975 and amended to start from Bukit Panjang Bus Interchange and loop at Lim Chu Kang Terminal . The terminal has since converted to a bus stop.

Service 975 is under Choa Chu Kang-Bukit Panjang BCM package.
