Ligustrum glomeratum

Ligustrum glomeratum grows as a shrub or small tree up to 15 metres (50 ft) tall. The twigs are pale brown. The fragrant flowers are white or yellow. Fruit ripens to dark purple. The specific epithet glomeratum is from the Latin meaning "gathered closely", referring to the flowers. Habitat is mixed dipterocarp forest from sea level to 1,600 metres (5,200 ft) altitude. L. glomeratum is found in Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Christmas Island and Papua New Guinea.[2][3]

Etymology

Ligustrum means ‘binder’. It was named by Pliny and Virgil.[4]
