Leptolalax aereus

Leptolalax aereus is a species of frogs in the family Megophryidae. It is known from Vilabouli District, Savannakhet Province, Laos (where its type locality is) and from Hà Tĩnh, Nghệ An, and Quảng Bình Provinces of Vietnam.[2] Leptolalax aereus from Laos were associated with rocky streams in semi-evergreen and evergreen forest at altitudes of about 280–510 m (920–1,670 ft). It seems to tolerate some degree of habitat degradation.[1] The species is not yet assessed by IUCN, but given its wide distribution, Ohler et al. suggest to classify Leptolalax aereus as of "Least Concern".[3]

Description

Leptolalax aereus is a medium-sized species among the generally small Leptolalax: adult males from Laos measured 25–29 mm (0.98–1.14 in) and females 27–39 mm (1.1–1.5 in) in snout-vent length. It is morphologically most similar to Leptolalax oshanensis. Male L. aereus have been found to be calling from crevices between boulders, on rocks, and on stream banks in both June and November, suggesting that breeding may occur throughout the year. To the human ear, this call is a high-pitched, rapid chirping.[1]

Specimens collected from Vietnam were slightly different and seem to represent two other lineages.[3]

gollark: Sure, but you are unlikely to bulk-manufacture them as it's very niche. Might as well just buy an FPGA and stick it in your keyboard.
gollark: The microcontrollers in keyboards doing USB are probably more powerful than "6502"s.
gollark: Perhaps I should continue PotatoASM.
gollark: PotatOS Experimental PotatoASM ISA best.Although I may have slightly copied MIPS by accident.
