Le Baiser Salé
It was in March 1983 that the Gibson's Brothers launched Le Baiser Salé at 58, rue des Lombards in the heart of Paris. These three Caribbean brothers, hit musicians, authors, among others, of the global tube Cuba decide to open Le Baiser Salé and make it a Café-Concert where you could have a drink while listening to a live band. A few months later, the formula changed with the only group that played every night gave way to a weekly program, quickly implemented by the current programmer Maria Rodriguez.

These are the real beginnings of the JazzClub Le Baiser Salé.
To develop the mixed music of creation and to go beyond the framework of the traditional jazz club, these were the objectives of the program of the Baiser Salé from January 84. It is a succession of groups much more jazz with a clear orientation towards jazz fusion, while called jazz rock, and a marked predilection for mixed music.
From these crazy years will remember all the musician's exceptional talent spent in this small room that served as a springboard and that we now meet in the largest international festivals; from Richard Bona to Angélique Kidjo via Monica Passos, Ultramarine, Les Étoiles, Sylvain Luc, Rido Bayonne, Leni Stern, Thierry Eliez, Etienne Mbappé, Mario Canonge, Nguyen Le and many others, the list is long of those who heated our walls and our stage.
It is the pride of Le Baiser Salé that having encouraged so many talents by betting on their then unknown names and it is our passion and pleasure to continue on this path so rewarding that sees the birth and recognition of the talents of tomorrow. It is also often during our jam sessions on Monday orchestrated by the percussionist François Constantin that many young instrumentalists find the opportunity to be noticed by the "sizes" and other old wolves who always prowl to the new musical sensations, and it is often around a glass that group projects are born after memorable oxen.
Here, everything is allowed, jazz club yes, but not forgetting that jazz is born of miscegenation, all the experience is good and the programming gives pride to mixtures of culture, the only requirement required of the musicians: to ensure. Here musicians are free to create, to invent, to associate music that does not meet, to mix names that do not know each other, to try out groups from which magic can be born, it's here that CHIC HOT was born, ULTRAMARINE too. Sylvain Luc found at Baiser Salé a cozy corner where his music flourished in duet with Stéphane Belmondo: Le Baiser Salé gave wings ....
And then, there is the BAR, and not just any bar ... open from 5:30 pm to 6:00 am, the end of the evening of all the musicians, shaped like a horseshoe, it allows the regulars to chat with face and novices to mingle with the conversation while taking a look at the bartender who shakes his cocktail of miles and a color, with summery reflections ... the rhythm of one of the countless concerts broadcast on the video screen, some not found on the market…
